All that it takes for banking

The head office of Belvneshekonombank in Zaskavskaya Street was designed to visualize the customer’s corporate values and comply with all requirements a banking institution is expected to live up to.

Reliability and impressive appearance, which make part of the image of the bank, are just as important as the functional design of the project. To meet the goals stated, the project makers had to look for a compromise between a conservative approach and the quest for novel solutions.

The building is made up of two volumes – the square of the main entrance hall with an atrium, which leans to the main office with their facets. The square volume is positioned at a certain angle to the roadway, which accentuates the façade, secures sufficient air for a compact site, with plenty of room left for parking cars along the street. The façade consists of two parts: a solid rock massif hanging over the main entrance and a light glass skirt under it.

The top of the glass surface is torn through by a pyramid over the atrium. The balance of conservatism and novelty is attained by combining factures of glass and stone, selective color contrast, the shape and the positioning of the building.

The absence of windows on the façade and the sides of the building creates a monolith exterior structure to accentuate the reliability of the banking institution.

The first level houses a customer service area, with depositories hidden in the basement. The offices occupy three upper floors connected by corridors, which lead to the luminous courtyard of the main volume.

On the whole, the head office of Belvneshekonombank is an example of functionality-bound construction designed with an original uniform concept in mind, which was to accentuate the reliability of the institution.
